What is Juvederm?
Juvederm is an FDA-approved dermal filler that can last up to one year. Juvederm is used to instantly restore your skin’s smoothness, offering long-lasting results that can smooth away facial wrinkles and folds. If you have smile lines or frown lines, or “parentheses” – the creases that run from your nose to your mouth – you could be a candidate for Juvederm. Juvederm is available in Juvederm Ultra and Juvederm Ultra Plus. Contact our Los Angeles med spa today to see which formula is right for you.
What is Juvederm used for?
Whether your healthcare professional recommends Juvederm Ultra or Juvederm Ultra Plus, the dermal filler is used as an injection into the mid and deep dermis to correct moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds.
Is Juvederm offered in different levels?
Juvederm is an injectable gel gel, and our Los Angeles Juvederm treatments are available in two formulations to meet your individual needs: Juvederm Ultra and Juvederm Ultra Plus. Juvederm Ultra offers volumizing and contouring for wrinkles and folds. Juvederm Ultra Plus is a more robust formula for correcting deep facial wrinkles and folds.
How is Juvederm different from other fillers?
Juvederm is the only FDA-approved hyaluronic acid dermal filler that can last up to one year. Currently, all other hyaluronic acid dermal fillers are granular in texture, while Juvederm is made of a smooth consistency that allows it to restore smoothness to the skin for a more natural look and feel. Hyaluronic acid is created naturally in all mammals, helping to hydrate and add volume to the skin. It is also injected into arthritic joints to help ease movement.
Is Juvederm injection painful?
Juvederm injections may cause discomfort to some patients. Made of hyaluronic acid, Juvederm is made of a smooth consistency gel that allows it to be injected into the mid to deep dermis with a fine needle to reduce any discomfort. You can also ask your physician to use a numbing anesthetic at the treatment area to further minimize discomfort to your face.
How long does it take to administer Juvederm?
While our Los Angeles Juvederm injection appointments generally last about 15 minutes, you should plan on consulting time with your doctor before your Juvederm treatment. Some people require numbing cream, so plan an extra 30-60 minutes for that to take effect prior to your injection.
How long does Juvederm last?
While Juvederm is FDA approved to last for one year, many patients may need touch-up or repeat injections to maintain optimum effects. Consult with your physician if you are unsure of the lasting effects of your Juvederm treatment.
Are there Juvederm side effects?
Juvederm is FDA approved and any possible side effects are typically short in duration, lasting one week or less. Most side effects are mild to moderate, including facial redness, pain or tenderness, swelling, bruising, itching, firmness, lumps/bumps and discoloration at the injection site. As with all other skin injection procedures, there is a risk of infection. Ask your doctor if you have questions about Juvederm side effects.
Can Juvederm be used on all skin tones?
Juvederm injectable dermal filler is made of hyaluronic acid, proven to be safe for all skin types and skin tones. Studies have shown no increased risk of hyperpigmentation or hypertrophic scarring in patients of color or who have a deeper pigment.
